June 2013
NY RISING UPDATE
Mayor
James Ruzicka attended a meeting yesterday, June 26, 2013,
with representatives from the NY Rising Grant Program.
Starting
Monday, July 1, 2013, NY Rising will start conferencing with
homeowners that have submitted applications with the
program. Case
Managers have completed their training and have started to
review homeowner applications.
On a daily basis, letters are being sent out to
homeowners with the name of your Case Manager and your
appointment time. You
can reschedule your appointment time if you can’t make it.
Most of the homeowners should receive their letters
the week of July 1, 2013.
The
NY Rising Case Manager will meet with you and review your
application for completeness.
After
it is determined that your application is complete, it
should take about 3 to 4 weeks to verify all of the aid that
you have received already.
Next
is the home inspection conducted by a Construction Company
Inspector assigned by NY Rising. They will verify the work
that you need to have done.
This phase should start in early August 2013.
The
NY Rising Grant Program will determine how much money you
are eligible for based on what you need to have done at your
home, home inspection, and what money you have received
(money from FEMA, Flood Insurance, SBA Loans and any other
aid).
You
can select a contractor from the NY Rising list of
contractors or you may use your own contractor.
The contractor you select will be paid directly by NY
Rising.
Reimbursement
of monies that you have spent prior to meeting with NY
Rising will be discussed directly with your Case Manager.
